Special Report: The 2005 NPT Power & Influence Top 50
As if the running of a charitable endeavor wasn’t tough enough – given a spotty stock market, a soft economy in the major cities and competition – enter the regulators. Apparently it’s not good enough to run a clean shop. You have to prove it and pay the freight for establishing that credibility. In this 8th annual NPT Power & Infl uence Top 50, those seeking to regulate and those either fi ghting back or capitulating have taken center stage. We saved some room for those not involved directly in those fi ghts but are sterling examples of leadership. The NPT Power and Infl uence Top 50 was selected by a combination of NPT staff and a few hand-picked members of the nonprofi t community, who narrowed a fi eld of more than 200 nominees. The panelists were not permitted to be part of the list, although several very well could have been included in the selection process. THE NONPROFIT TIMES editor-in-chief held veto power over fi nalists, which was not exercised this year. This year's honorees will be feted during a gala on Sept. 15 at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Political pundit Eleanor Clift is scheduled to keynote the event. So, here they are -- the 2005 NPT Power & Infl uence Top 50. (PDF, 280KB)
