Bill Achenbach is the new vice president of human resources
for the national office of the American Heart Association in Dallas.
He was the northeast region human resource director for Sears, Roebuck
and Co. prior to the appointment.
Nancy Brown was recently appointed executive vice president in the
office of science operations of the American Heart Association's national
office in Dallas. Brown was serving as executive vice president for
AHA's New England affiliate.
Ilan Chet was appointed president of the Weizmann Institute of
Science in Rehovot, Israel. Chet previously served as vice president
for research and development for the Hebrew University.
Mark Costello is the new assistant director of financial development
of the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Santa Ana,
Calif. Prior to the appointment, Costello served as marketing and public
relations consultant for El Prado Sales and Marketing in Yorba Linda,
Calif.
C. Edwin Davis, CFRE, was appointed director of development of
The Florida Orchestra in Tampa. He most recently served as director
of development for The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia.
Claudia Dawn French was appointed executive director of the Gill
Foundation in Denver, Colo. Most recently she served as executive director
for AIDS Action, based in Washington, D.C.
James P. Digan was appointed president and CEO of The Glaucoma
Foundation in New York City. Digan previously directed all capital gifts
fundraising for the Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.
Jon M. Fitzgerald is the new president of the Children's Hospital
Foundation in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to the hiring, Fitzgerald served
as vice president of development for Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla.
Lois Giovacchini was appointed executive director of the Jewish
Federation of the North Shore in Salem, Mass. Giovacchini was serving
as the federation's chief operating officer.
Adrienne Hahn was appointed director of government relations
for Washington, D.C.-based Independent Sector. Most recently Hahn served
as senior counsel for Consumers Union in Yonkers, N.Y."
Kathryn "Kit" M. Hope was appointed assistant director
of disaster operations of the Orange County Chapter of the American
Red Cross in Santa Ana, Calif. Hope served as station manager for Armed
Forces Emergency Services prior to the hiring.
Lynn Howes was recently appointed director of public affairs
of the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Santa Ana,
Calif. Prior to joining the Red Cross Howes served as public relations
manager for Irvine, Calif.-based RiechesBairdAdvertising, Public Relations
and e-Business.
Bruce A. Hurwitz is the new director of fundraising and public
relations of the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club in Bronx, N.Y. He previously
served as director of development for the Bronx-based Aging in America.
Richard Kaplan was promoted to assistant vice president for institutional
research and grants management of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur
Foundation in Chicago.
Ed Manekin was recently appointed chief engineering officer of
The Enterprise Foundation based in Columbia, Md. Manekin was serving
the foundation as its interim chief administrative officer.
Ferrand McDonald O'Donoghue was appointed director of development
of the Cancer Research Foundation of America in Alexandria, Va. She
previously served as director of leadership advancement for the Smithsonian
Institute in Washington, D.C.
Esther Molina is the new national breeding and puppy raising
program manager of Santa Rosa, Calif.-based Canine Companions for Independence.
Molina previously served as northwest puppy program manager for CCI.
Julie Paradis was hired as Washington counsel of the Chicago-based
America's Second Harvest. Paradis previously was serving as deputy under
secretary for food, nutrition, and consumer services for the U.S. Department
of Agriculture in Washington, D.C.
Jane Riley Leach was recently appointed executive director of
Florida Blood Services Foundation in St. Petersburg, Fla. She most recently
served as director of major gifts for the American Heart Association
in Dallas.
Rev. Peter Sipple was appointed director of development of Episcopal
Community Services in Philadelphia. Rev. Sipple was serving as interim
rector for Church of the Redeemer, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Mary Szymanski Tindall is the new vice president of leadership
giving and estate planning of United Way Community Services (UWCS) in
Detroit. Tindall served as vice president for external relations for
the Center for Creative Studies prior to the hiring.
Peter Werwath was recently appointed vice president and deputy
director of program services of The Enterprise Foundation in Columbia,
Md. He served as director, grants management research and information
for the foundation prior to this new appointment.
Daniel Williams was appointed vice president of finance and technology
of Chicago-based Alzheimer's Association. He was serving as vice president,
finance, and chief financial officer for Holy Cross Hospital, also in
Chicago.
